Chantilly also offers visitors the possibility of strolling in the large grounds covering 115 hectares, designed by Le Nôtre for le Grand Condé in the late 17th century, a unique testimony to the history of Western landscaping gardening.


Along with the classical perspectives offered by the Grand Canal, its waterfall and its French borders, there is the Jardin Anglo-Chinois (English Chinese garden) of Le Hameau, surrounding the five hamlets build for the Prince de Condé in 1774, the Fontaines de Beauvais and the romantic curves of the Jardin Anglais with l'Ile d'Amour, the Temple de Vénus and the landscaped grounds near the Grand Ecuries, built by Jean Aubert between 1719 and 1735.
