The Temple de Vénus is a folly built in the early 19th century by the architect Victor Dubois in the middle of the Jardin Anglais, which was laid out from 1818 onwards in a part of the grounds of Chantilly that had been transformed after the revolution. Standing next to a romantic pond inhabited by swans, it was inspired by the architecture of Greek and Roman temples and has, at its centre, a famous antique statue representing Venus, the Goddess of Love and Beauty. The Temple de Vénus has been restored in 2002.
