Monkeys and dragons.
China and Japan at Chantilly in the XVIIIth century

Fascinated by Asian art, the Duke of Bourbon, Prince of Condé (1692-1740), set-up a soft-paste porcelain factory at his château in Chantilly. The Condé Museum will display pieces produced in the factory and etchings illustrating Asian ornamental designs widely used in Chantilly porcelain.

Through various books, manuscripts and rare pieces, the Cabinet des Livres studies the topic of conquests through the ages by analysing the influence of the loser on the winners’ civilisation.
