The Pink Diamond is a diamond of exceptional size and color, known as the Grand Condé because it adorned the knob of Condé's cane, or so the story goes. It was stolen in 1926 with Abd el-Kader's weapons and found a few months later, by chance, by the maid of a small hotel near a Parisian train station, Gare de l'Est: as she bit in an apple left in a client's bedroom, the maid discovered the stone. It was then given back with honors to the Condé Museum.
